Jean Fineberg Receives Composition Grant from Intermusic SF
Jean Fineberg (2018 Alum) received a music composition grant from Intermusic SF. Jean will compose and arrange three new pieces for the JAZZphoria octet. The new compositions will be premiered in concert and recorded for Jazzphoria's debut CD.
JAZZphoria- we bill itself as "Groove Beat" because all our material is contemporary and rhythm based and our performances are exciting and inspiring. Our infectious grooves include everything from R&B, Blues, Funk and Salsa to Reggae, Bossa Nova, Rumba and the kitchen sink! The JAZZphoria octet has just recorded several of my original tunes for an upcoming album. JAZZphoria plays all original groove based music from Swing, to Bebop, Reggae, Funk, Bossa Nova, Soca and Salsa. The band is comprised of two trumpets/flugelhorns, two saxe/flutes/clarinetss, guitar, piano, bass & drums. All the arrangements feature big band style harmonies, great jazz solos and are backed up by a rock solid rhythm section.
IntermusicSF's mission is to support the professional and artistic growth of San Francisco Bay Area musicians whose focus is the small ensemble. Through programs that include fiscal sponsorship, grant-making, career development, and curated performance partnerships, we strengthen the careers of local artists who contribute to a vibrant and diverse music community.
Jean was also recently awardes residencies at Surel's Place in Idaho and Rogers Art Loft in Las Vegas, both currently on hold.
Congratulations Jean!
