Travis Apel
Travis Apel, a native Missourian is known for sculptures made of metals and stone. They combine the anatomy of the universe with our understanding of metaphor embedded in nature. Apel earned the Missouri Silver Scholarship to attend Kansas City Art Institute. He is affiliated with several organizations such as the New England Sculptors Association, as a Hot Shops Art Center BarkerArt Resident, and is a 2014 Artist INC Live Omaha Fellow through Omaha Creative Institute and Mid-America Arts Alliance. Apel will attend a residency at Kimmel Harding Nelson Arts Center in the Spring of 2016. He was selected for a Friends of UNO ArtSlam+ presentation, and to install a public sculpture, Conscience, in Yankton, SD in 2015. As a resident Of Omaha, NE, he has exhibited throughout the midwest, New England, and has collections nationally. Also a seasoned dental technician, Apel uses laboratory techniques to innovate his practice.
