Susan Heggestad
Susan Heggestad is a visual artist drawn to printmaking, fibers, installation, and found-object sculpture. She has a keen interest in texture and tactility, layering, and transparency. These elements help reference our physical experience of the world, and conjure up ideas of what it means to exist as a “being” in the world – how we come to experience, both physically and mentally, just who it is we think we are.
She received her BFA in Printmaking from the University of South Dakota, and her MFA from SUNY Buffalo. She has been an avid arts advocate, teaching artist, and grantwriter for the past 20 years. She lives and works in Vermillion, South Dakota.
