I like negative spaces better than the object, and through my work I continue to explore the spaces in between. I don't know how this fascination started, but sometimes I muse that it must come from growing up in Nebraska - from being born in a town that sits on a highway that runs through the center of the country. After earning a BFA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and an MFA from Michigan State University I taught art history, studio art, and integrative studies at Lower Columbia College in Longview, Washington from 1979-2008. I have shown my work regionally, nationally, and until recently I was represented by Blackfish Gallery in Portland, Oregon. In retirement I continue working in my studio, exhibiting, traveling, travel writing, and performing with TAPestry NW. My husband and I paddle, row, and cruise on the Columbia River and Puget Sound in the boats he builds.
