Ravi Kittappa
Ravi Kittappa is a Portland, Oregon-based composer. Drawing from his diverse musical background, his recent focus is on “situational music,” emphasizing the interaction between performer, audience, space, and corporeality. His work has been performed globally, with the New York Times praising the "vivid soundscapes" of his piece Decantations III. Kittappa has been commissioned by notable ensembles such as the Dutch National Opera, and violist Garth Knox. His sound art installations have featured in prominent museums, including The Baltimore Museum of Art. Kittappa holds a Ph.D. in music composition from UC Berkeley and has taught and lectured internationally. He is also an active guitarist and improviser, having collaborated with artists like Fred Frith and Myra Melford. Since 2022, he has been a faculty member at Portland Community College.
