Layla Luna
Layla Luna was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1975. Her work reflects our human need to believe in the history held within objects, and honors the spaces that house these items from large public museum collections to private cabinets of curiosities. Luna uses drawings, paintings, collage, and found materials, to build her own collections that document time and create stories. She uses methods and ideas such as archiving, preservation, and display to demonstrate the value we place on particular objects. Is it even the object itself that we covet, or is it the haunt contained within it that each of us are after? Luna received her MFA in Painting from Texas Christian University's School of Art in 2016 and her BFA in Painting from Arizona State University in 2008. She studied at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand where she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art in 2011. Currently Luna resides in Forth Worth, Texas with her little family and Kona, the world's greatest dog.
