Deborah Hardt

Deborah is fascinated by the colors and brilliance of empty landscapes, be they in a desert or the middle of Manhattan. Her work seeks to illuminate the overlooked regality and fragility of desolate terrain. The images from Western Nebraska hold a particular allure; the weather there is harsh and violent. It has carved its intensity on the land. The quiet and austere beauty of the high plains is at once both isolating and sustaining. Its drama and subtle, sad beauty are what she captures in her photography. Deborah has worked as a media producer creating photography, documentaries, short films, and Internet adventure videos for school children. Currently she works as a photo producer and photographer in New York. She photographs using a traditional 4x5 camera primarily in Western Nebraska where she was raised on a farm and ranch.
