Christopher Weiss
Christopher Weiss' music has been hailed by the New York Times as "wonderfully fluid [with a] cinematic grasp of mood and lighting." He has received commissions and performances from the Jacksonville Symphony, the Huntsville Symphony, the Boston Chamber Orchestra, the Lancaster Symphony, the Columbia Orchestra, the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, and from Music from Angel Fire, where he was the 2008 Young Composer-in-Residence. Excerpts from his opera In a Mirror, Darkly have been performed by the New York City Opera and the Virginia Arts Festival. Christopher has won numerous awards and competitions. He was a recipient of a 2007 Theodore Presser Foundation Career Grant, and in 2006 was the youngest competitor ever to win the top prize in the Jacksonville Symphony's "Fresh Ink" competition. Christopher holds degrees from Rollins College and the Curtis Institute of Music.
