Anno Schreier
Anno Schreier was born in Aachen, Germany, in 1979, and currently lives in Freiburg. He has made a name for himself primarily as an opera composer. In 2011 his opera ‘Die Stadt der Blinden‘ was premiered at Zurich Opera House. Theater an der Wien premiered his opera ‘Hamlet‘ in 2016. 2019 saw the premieres of ‘Schade, dass sie eine Hure war‘ at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf, and the family opera ‘Der Zauberer von Oz‘ at Theater Aachen. In 2022, his opera ‘Turing‘ about the life of Alan Turing was premiered at Staatstheater Nürnberg. Anno Schreier studied composition in Düsseldorf, London and Munich. He teaches music theory at the Karlsruhe University of Music. In 2010, Anno Schreier held a residency at the German Academy in Rome, Villa Massimo. In 2017 he was awarded the German Music Author Prize in the ‘Music Theater‘ category. His works are published by Schott Music.
