Andrew Hladky
ANDREW HLADKY is an English-born artist currently living in Philadelphia. He makes sculptural paintings and paint-sculptures using bamboo sticks and oil paint.
He received an MA Painting from Wimbledon School of Art, London, and has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. Since coming to the US he has held three solo exhibitions, at Artspace NC, Arlington Arts Center VA, and AHHA Hardesty Art Center, OK.
In 2010 he won the London Art Award, and in 2015 was shortlisted for the East London Painting Prize. In 2015 he published the book, On Innards, as part of a collaborative artists’ group. It has been acquired by many collections, including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum, and MoMA Library.
He has been awarded many fellowships and residencies, including at Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, Yaddo, Vermont Studio Center, Jentel, Willapa Bay, VCCA, Artspace NC and Teton Artlab.
