Emily Somoskey
Emily Somoskey is a 2-D mixed media artist living in Walla Walla, WA. She uses paint and collaged imagery as a means to think through the larger questions, curiosities and areas of subjectivity that makes up our world. In combining these mediums, Emily weaves together moments of clarity and ambiguity that articulates, disrupts, and complicates a singular understanding of the work. Her work bridges representation and abstraction; bringing together the familiar, mysterious, and immaterial aspects of our known world as a way to open up new ways of seeing and understanding our place within it. Her work has been exhibited most recently at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA and Hanson Howard Gallery in Ashland, OR. She pursued a BA at The University of Akron in
Akron, OH and her MFA at Michigan State University, in East Lansing, MI. Emily is currently an Assistant Professor at Whitman College.
