Doug Brandt
Doug Brandt has written many scores for the stage, including the music and words for Our Little Secret, a comedy about three women with eating disorders, and Savage, a tragedy exploring the Native American genocide in Colonial America. His score for Two Girls from Vermont, directed by Obie winner Liesl Tommy, won the Special Audience Award at the NY International Fringe Festival. He and Tommy also collaborated on a workshop production of The Glass Menagerie at the New York Theater Workshop. He is currently writing an opera about Herculine Barbin, a 19th century intersex person who was raised as a girl but forced as an adult to live as a man. Doug is a two-time finalist and one-time semifinalist for the American Prize. Four of his choral works appear in the Craig Hella Johnson Choral Series with G. Schirmer. He has a 15-year-old cat (Brennan) and a 22-year-old frog (Ed).
