Shigeki Yoshida
Shigeki Yoshida was born in Japan. He studied painting at Wako University in Tokyo and photography at Hunter College in New York with Mark Feldstein and Roy DeCarava receiving an MFA in 2005. He pursued his early career as a painter and had several solo and group shows in Korea, Thailand, and Japan. He was awarded a fellowship by the Japanese government as a painter and came to New York in 1997. Yoshida's work is part of museum and private collections in Japan, Korea, Spain, Italy, France, the UK, Brazil, and the US including: Machida City Museum of Art (Tokyo), Fundació Foto Colectania (Barcelona, Spain) and Philadelphia Museum of Art (PA). He has been awarded residencies at Willapa Bay AiR (WA), Sacatar (Bahia, Brazil), Blue Mountain Center (NY), Jentel (WY), Yaddo (NY) and others. He is currently represented by Tokyo Gallery+BTAP in Tokyo and lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
