Kristiana Kahakauwila
After graduating with a bachelor degree in comparative literature from Princeton University, Kristiana Kahakauwila wrote for publications such as Highlights for Children, Wine Spectator and Cigar Aficionado before earning her master of fine arts degree in fiction writing from the University of Michigan. Since then, she has lived and surfed in Hawaii, working as a college instructor by day and a wine steward by night. Currently she is at work on a collection of short stories that question Western and Oceanic notions of tradition, culture, ethnic identity, gender, and Native rights. Her work has appeared in the Literary Review, Nassau Weekly, and is forthcoming in the Chaminade Literary Review.
