Ben Irwin
Ben Irwin is a composer and clarinetist. Ben's music was recently performed by the Empyrean Ensemble, the Ottawa New Music Creators, and pianist Jeff Gibbens. Ben's upcoming projects include new works for the Clocks in Motion percussion ensemble, the Haiku Music Collective, the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium, and the Domaine Forget festival.
Ben holds a Ph.D. in composition and theory from the University of California at Davis, master's degrees in composition and clarinet performance from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and a bachelor's degree in music from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He has been a composition fellow at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Wellesley Composers Conference, and the Ostrava Days, SICPP, MusicX, and soundSCAPE festivals. He has been a performance fellow at the SICPP, MusicX, soundSCAPE, and Bowdoin festivals.
