Robert Honstein (b. 1980) is a composer living in Brooklyn, NY. Praised for his "roiling, insistent orchestral figuration" (New York Times), Robert's music has been performed throughout North America by the Albany Symphony Orchestra, the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, the New York Youth Symphony, the Yale Philharmonia, the Hunter Symphony Orchestra, the Bard College Orchestra, the Norfolk Summer Music Festival, the Fireworks Ensemble, the Young New Yorkers Chorus, the Tosca String Quartet and the UT Austin New Music Ensemble. Recently, Robert co-founded the Correction Line Ensemble, a group of six musicians from pop and classical backgrounds who perform music spanning a wide range of styles and genres. Following a successful inaugural concert that was broadcasted nationally by CBC Radio 2, the Correction Line Ensemble toured Canada, presenting shows throughout Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba. Robert is also a founding member of Sleeping Giant, a New York based collective of emerging composers. Upcoming projects include commissions from the Hunter Symphony Orchestra and from Carnegie Hall for a new chamber work to be premiered by the ACJW ensemble.
