George David Charman
George Charman (b.1983 London UK). Completed his BA in sculpture at UCA, Farnham (2002-05), and MA in Printmaking at Royal College of Art, London (2006-08). Prizes for his practice include: Tim Mara print prize, Helen Chadwick travel prize, Royal Academy British Institute Award and most recently, 2nd prize at the Jerwood Drawing Prize. Selected group exhibitions include: Sum Parts, Acme Project Space, London (2011), And Then Again, Lisbon City Museum, Portugal (2010), Jerwood Drawing Prize, London and UK tour (2009-10), Contested Ground, 176 Gallery, London (2009), Architectura, William Angel Gallery, London (2009) City X, England & Co, London (2009), Abandoned by the third dimension, Centre For Recent Drawing, London (2008). Residencies include: London Metropolitan University London (2008-2010), Acme Studios London (2010-15), Lisbon City Museum (2011) Foundacion Vlaparesso Almeria Spain (2011), Vermont Studio Centre Vermont USA (2011). Work in private collections including: Victoria Conran Collection, British Airways Collection, Make Architects Collection, and Royal College of Art Print Collection George is currently a fine art tutor at the Royal School of Needlework on the foundation degree and a sessional tutor at the University for the Creative Arts. George currently lives and works in London, England.
