laura c carlson
laura c carlson works through sculpture, performance and writing to overlay complications of relationships to land, self, and body. Carlson questions how empathy may exist between beings that occupy different categories, whether place, person or thing. A 2017 MFA graduate of University of Pennsylvania, carlson was born in Nebraska. carlson was an inaugural resident at Feminist Summer Camp in 2016 and a Union for Contemporary Art 2014 fellow. carlson is a recipient of a 2017 Penn Praxis Social Impact Project award. carlson holds a BFA in Art History and Studio Art from Creighton University and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the United States. carlson has held positions at the Institute for Contemporary Art in Philadelphia and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Nebraska.
