Gina Keplinger
As a Teaching Artist and Deputy Director of Lincoln Schools with the Nebraska Writers Collective (NWC), Gina Keplinger works closely with the youth slam poetry festival, Louder Than a Bomb: Great Plains. Once a nationally competitive slam poet, she has performed at the National Poetry Slam (NPS) and the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI). She leads writing workshops inside correctional facilities through Writers’ Block, an NWC-sponsored program that brings creative opportunities to inmates. Her work has appeared, or is forthcoming, in Young Scholars In Writing, Shot Glass Journal, Black Heart Magazine, and Leopardskin & Limes. Born and raised in Omaha, Gina is (not always) Nebraska nice — her poetry is obsessed with speaking loudly and sharply against injustices done to women’s bodies. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and is now earning her M.A. in Composition and Rhetoric from the same institution.
