Risk and Repair
Risk and Repair
Risk and Repair unites polarities in the sculptures, collages, paintings, and prints of two Nebraska-based artists, Amanda Smith and Aaron Badham. Risk, the exposure to loss, harm, or potential danger takes on an interesting meaning when thinking about the process of creating artworks. What does it mean to take risks as an artist? How do you know when to repair and renew? In terms of process, both Smith and Badham address abandoning traditional handling of materials to meld, inflate, mix, ooze, and paste—often reversing and recycling materials and forms.
