Julie Schram
Julie has been doing art all her life, as a small child she created art with cut paper and glue, advancing into watercolor. A self- taught portrait artist, she has been commissioned to do many portraits, locally and nationally. After graduating from the Colorado Institute of Art she worked her way up to Art Director at Capco Tile’s hand painted tile studio, painting and drawing murals. Julie moved to Massachusetts and started her own hand-painted tile studio for a number of years. Moving back to Omaha to be near family, art has always been an important part of her life but, with 2 kids it was hard to find time for it. She started using pencil and doing portraits of children and animals. Drawing with pencil was convenient and easy to carry to the different kids activities to do while she waited for them to finish, no drying time needed. As any artist, pencil transitioned to watercolor and then to acrylics. She is also a published book illustrator, working with a local author, and has written and illustrated her own children’s book.
Julie has had numerous solo and collective shows in the area including Joslyn Art Museum, Connect Gallery, Gallery 92 West, and The Hot Shops. She is always finding a way to change and evolve, mastering many different mediums.
